Ermitage Arlesheim

The Hermitage in Arlesheim is the largest English landscape garden in Switzerland. Built at the behest of Balbina von Andlau, the wife of the former prince-bishop's bailiff Franz Carl von Andlau, and her cousin, the Canon Heinrich von Ligertz, it is situated in the Gobenmatttal valley, a few minutes’ walk from the center of the village of Arlesheim.

Various guided tours in German, English, and French take you through the maze of garden paths and wildly romantic garden scenery.
