Waldenburg Palace

Now the proud remains of a bailiwick palace, the Waldenburg Palace ruins tower high above the medieval village below.

The Waldenburg was built around the year 1200 by the counts Hermann of Frohburg in order to collect tolls for the pass road. The palace changed hands numerous times over the years until it was set on fire in 1798 during the Baselland uprisings.
