The Gourmet Week, known locally as the “Genusswoche” or “Semaine du Goût”, has been taking place with hundreds of events across Switzerland every September since 2002.
For the fourth time, a Basel Region Gourmet Week is running alongside this year’s Gourmet Week from September 15–25, 2016.
Gourmet Week is part of an initiative to support the sustainable development and preservation of culinary treasures. The week’s events reflect the diversity of regional flavors and everything related with the enjoyment of food – food that uses ingredients in which the people who produce and process them and the region in which they are grown still play an important role. The aim of the events is to encourage people to eat together and to remind them that we eat for both energy and enjoyment.
In 2016, Liestal was delighted to be named the “Schweizer Genussstadt” or “Switzerland’s Gourmet Town”, attracting attention to our region far beyond our canton’s borders.
